This is an active tour designed to meet local people and understand what it means to live in this “32a_3519Land of Fire & Ice.” You will have the opportunity of a lifetime to enjoy two of the world’s greatest wildernesses: Iceland’s Lava Tube and its second largest glacier– from the inside! Enjoy whale watching and sea angling from a classic Icelandic oak fishing boat, visit Eric the Red’s home and hear the challenges of farming directly from the farmers as we visit with them. Hike to waterfalls, up a crater, to a lighthouse, marvel at an original Viking boat and turf homes, enjoy tomato soup in the midst of the tomato plants and get acquainted with the Icelandic horse. Then soak in the hot springs before leaving this amazing country of warm, friendly people, great food and incredible scenery. While we visited the south of Iceland numerous times, this tour is to the West, North and East, where there are less tourists and more of what Iceland is really like, and what made us fall in love with this country and its people.
